Recently, an innovative research collaboration between King’s Ground Biotech and National Taiwan University has obtained a patent in Japan for their fermentation of coffee grounds. The patent titled “Feed Additive and Preparation Method for Promoting Growth and Preventing and/or Treating Respiratory Diseases” covers a specialized fungal fermentation feed additive and its preparation method, which has been proven to promote growth and prevent and/or treat respiratory diseases.
The significance of this innovative research lies not only in its potential for preventing and treating respiratory diseases but also in addressing the value of reusing coffee grounds. Coffee grounds are one of the significant waste products generated in daily life and have traditionally been considered as non-utilizable waste. However, this research has discovered that by utilizing King’s Ground Biotech’s specialized fungal fermentation process on coffee grounds, valuable compounds can be extracted, transforming coffee grounds into a valuable feed additive.
